Biography | Arnold Schwarzenegger — The Hollywood Star That Made His Second Career Permanent
kevin
By June 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger had crossed the line that once looked least passable: Hollywood no longer treated him as a bodybuilder making films.
It recognized him as a motion-picture star.
On 2 June, a ceremony placed his name in the sidewalk at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce records the date, address and motion-pictures category; a contemporary Los Angeles Times notice described it as the Walk of Fame's 1,847th star.
The marker arrived after a rapid change in his screen standing. His 1982 breakthrough in Conan the Barbarian had made his physique useful to a leading role, rather than merely an unusual feature that casting directors had to explain.
The Terminator changed the equation again in 1984. The American Film Institute records Schwarzenegger in the title role and notes that the film opened nationwide at number one, while his official biography treats the character as the part that placed him in cinema history.
That made the 1987 ceremony more than decorative publicity. A permanent marker on Hollywood Boulevard certified that an Austrian athlete with a conspicuous accent had become part of the industry's public geography.
The star also captures a career at a hinge point. Bodybuilding had opened the route to America, and film fame would later supply the visibility that made a political campaign possible.
The sidewalk therefore connects the other places in this biography without replacing them. Thal explains the departure, Victoria Palace Theatre records the first international title, and this brass-and-terrazzo marker records the point when the second career had become institutionally visible.
The pin marks Schwarzenegger's star at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, using the published coordinate for that individual marker rather than a generic Walk of Fame or Hollywood intersection point.
The attached photograph was taken in 2019 and clearly shows his name and the motion-picture camera emblem. It documents the surviving marker, not the 1987 dedication ceremony.
This is a living person's story anchored to a public sidewalk monument. Visitors should observe normal pedestrian access and avoid blocking neighboring storefronts.
