On June 14, 1998, Michael Jordan walked onto the floor of Salt Lake City’s Delta Center with the Chicago Bulls one victory from a sixth NBA championship.

The arena held Game 6 of the NBA Finals, with the Utah Jazz trying to force the series back to Chicago.

Jordan scored 45 points in a game that remained unsettled until its final seconds.

With Chicago trailing 86–85, he created room near the top of the key and made a jump shot that put the Bulls ahead with 5.2 seconds remaining.

Utah did not score again, and the 87–86 result gave Chicago its sixth title in eight seasons.

The moment did more than decide one game, because it became the closing image of the Bulls dynasty that Jordan had led through two three-championship runs.

He received his sixth NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award after the victory, matching the number of championships he had won with Chicago.
