Biography|Christophe De Vusser — The October He Took the Brussels Office

On 12 October 2012 the trade press reported that Bain and Company had made Christophe De Vusser managing partner of the Brussels office.

He succeeded Nicolas Bloch, who moved to lead the firm's EMEA strategy practice. Olivier Marchal, then regional managing director for EMEA, announced the change.

The address did not change. It was still the Blue Tower at Avenue Louise 326, 22nd floor. The job did.

Managing partner here meant the P&L of a mid-sized European office: hiring, training, client development, and the unglamorous work of keeping a partnership fed. He kept the Belgian private-equity book and the consumer-goods clients as well.

Bain later said that between 2012 and 2018 he helped double the Brussels business and push it into new work. That claim is the firm's, repeated in the January 2024 election release. Treat it as the firm's accounting of those six years, not as an audited public filing.

2018 is the hinge after this pin. He joined the firm's board that year and took the EMEA private-equity practice. The Brussels office became a chapter rather than the whole job.

A visitor standing under the tower in 2012 would have seen the same glass Montois built in 1976. Nothing on the facade marked a change of partner. The news lived in a two-paragraph trade item.

That is why the date matters. Twelve years after he joined as a consultant, the same building handed him the office. Six years after that, the partnership handed him the firm.
