Samsung Electronics today is often pictured from the glass towers in Seocho. The first employment date on Lee Jae-yong's public timeline belongs south of the Han, at the Suwon works.

He joined the company in 1991.

Chosun Ilbo's 2024 English company timeline and Kyunghyang Shinmun's 27 October 2022 promotion profile both put that year before the 1992 SNU graduation. English Wikipedia's career section opens with the same 1991 start.

In 1991 the electronics business still ran from the Maetan-dong campus Lee Byung-chul had bought for the appliance and semiconductor push. The legal address remains 129 Samsung-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon — the site now branded Samsung Digital City.

Seocho Town, the Seoul office complex most visitors photograph, was not built until 2004–2008. Pinning the 1991 join there would be a later building pretending to be an earlier room.

The skyline a visitor sees from the perimeter today is also later. The R4 research tower that dominates the campus opened in 2005.

What can be stood at is the same lot: a working electronics campus that was already the company's manufacturing and research heart when a history undergraduate came on the payroll.
