A microbiology bachelor's degree does not usually end at a ketchup company.

Chapek used this campus to change direction.

Michigan State University awarded him a Master of Business Administration in 1984.

The Lansing State Journal recorded that year when Disney named him chief executive in February 2020.

The graduate business rooms sat in the Eugene C. Eppley Center on Shaw Lane.

The five-story block was finished in 1962 for hotel and institutional management and later folded into what became the Eli Broad College of Business.

Beaumont Tower, on the skyline since 1928, is the public landmark a visitor can still walk to without needing a classroom key.

After the degree he worked in brand management at H.J. Heinz and in advertising at J. Walter Thompson.

Those two jobs, not the lab bench, made a 1993 opening at Buena Vista Home Entertainment look like familiar packaged-goods work.

He would spend the next twenty-seven years inside Disney.

The MBA is the documented turn from specialist to generalist that IU interviewers later asked him to explain.
