Biography|Carol Tome — The Paces Ferry Campus Where She Became Home Depot's CFO

Home Depot hired her in 1995 as vice president and treasurer, during an expansion that included a push into Mexico.

The Store Support Center still stands at 2455 Paces Ferry Road, just inside I-285 in Cobb County. Three white office buildings behind a gate, the address Georgia's Secretary of State kept on file for her as CFO.

In May 2001 the company made her chief financial officer.

She held the finance job for eighteen years, adding executive vice president for corporate services in January 2007, and left in August 2019.

Company filings and later UPS and Verizon board biographies put the same arc on the record: sales more than doubled during her CFO years, to over $108 billion on the figures those bios repeat, and the shareholder-value line they cite is a 450 percent rise.

In 2014 the board chose Craig Menear, not Tomé, to succeed Frank Blake as chief executive. She stayed in the finance chair.

This campus is a workplace, not a museum. Visitors see the public face of a retailer headquarters, not an interior office.

The next title came from a board she had already sat on for seventeen years.
