[VOID] Biography | Donn Tatum — The Magna Cum Laude Degree on Stanford's Main Quad

People treat a Disney chairman as someone who learned the business only inside a studio gate.

Donn Benjamin Tatum's first credential was a Stanford degree finished on this quad.

He was born in Los Angeles on 9 January 1913 and grew up in the city. The public record does not fix a birth house, and this pin is not a hunt for one.

He entered Stanford in the early 1930s and took a Bachelor of Arts in political science. A February 1949 Broadcasting profile, written while he was still a radio lawyer, says he graduated magna cum laude in 1934.

A later company career box listed the years 1931 to 1935. The 1949 date is the closer contemporary line.

Memorial Church already closed the Inner Quad. The sandstone arcades he walked are the same mass a visitor finds now, rebuilt after the 1906 quake and standing through his undergraduate years.

Oxford came next, then a Los Angeles law school. The first pin is still this farm.

What Stanford gave him was not animation. It was a political-science degree taken magna cum laude on a campus that already treated the Quad as the center of the place.
