Chicago Typewriter|Hapcheon Image Theme Park — The Gyeongseong Street Built in a Valley

The 1930s streets in Chicago Typewriter were not shot on surviving Jongno asphalt. They were poured in Hapcheon County.

Hapcheon Image Theme Park sits at 757 Hapcheonhosu-ro in Yongju-myeon, a public open set that rebuilds Seoul from the 1920s through the 1980s. Korean Wikipedia records that the Gyeongseong sequences for this series were filmed here. The replica of old Seoul Station still faces a gravel yard. The colonial shopfronts are the ones the three writers walk when the typewriter drops them backward.

The park is open to ticket holders, closed Mondays, and used by hundreds of films and dramas. You pay at the gate and step onto a street that never existed in this valley until 2004. Stand under the station clock and the mountains sit where Namsan should be. That mismatch is the point. The drama borrowed a whole city because the real 1930s city had already been rebuilt.
