Sixty-three floors of gold glass stand on the south bank of Yeouido. When it opened in 1985 the tower was the tallest thing in Korea. The official name has changed with the owner. Everyone still says 63. The observatory is on the sixtieth floor. Aqua Planet sits lower in the same stack.

City Hunter pilgrimage lists put the building on the second morning of a Seoul circuit, after Gwanghwamun and before the color park under Mapo Bridge. The production needed a landmark that already meant money and height. This one did. From the deck the Han is a belt and Namsan is a bump with a needle on it. On a clear day the water toward Incheon shows.

You buy a ticket for the view, not for a replica set. The aquarium is a separate door. Stand on the river path first if you only want the silhouette the drama used as shorthand for Yeouido. The gold holds in late sun. That is the shot that still matches 2011.
