Crash Landing on You | Iseltwald Landing Stage — The Piano That Crossed the Water

The landing stage at Iseltwald is a short wooden finger into Lake Brienz. Turquoise water. A boat stop. The Strandhotel at Am Strand 77 behind it. Giessbach Falls white on the far slope if the weather is clean.

Episode 3 of Crash Landing on You puts Ri Jeong-hyeok on these boards with a piano. He is a North Korean captain remembering a Swiss winter and a dead brother. The piece is brief. It carries across the water to a boat where Yoon Se-ri is standing with a reason to stop living. She hears the notes before she sees the man. The series brings them back to the same pier in episode 7, when he has to leave Switzerland, and again in the last episode, when she walks the village hoping the message he left still means he will come.

Four hundred people live here. After the drama aired, PostBus added extra 103s from Interlaken Ost because the line could not hold the fans. The commune later put a gate on the pier and charged five francs in peak months. The boards are still public if you pay. The lake does not care who played here.

Stand at the end of the wood and look at the colour the glacial silt makes. That is the shot. The piano is gone. The water is not.
