ROOKIES (2008) | Futako Bridge — Kawato Runs Into the Story

Futako Bridge (二子橋) is one of the first unmistakable real-world anchors in TBS’s 『ROOKIES』. In episode 1, broadcast April 19, 2008, Koichi Kawato is shown running across the Tama River bridge as the drama establishes the Futakotamagawa setting around his new school. The National Filming Location Guide identifies Futako Bridge specifically for this sequence rather than the nearby New Futako Bridge.

The 1925 bridge still links the Tokyo and Kawasaki sides of the Tama River, and Kawasaki City lists it as a publicly accessible piece of local civil-engineering heritage. Its surviving presence makes this a useful pilgrimage stop for the series’ riverside geography without pretending that the modern surroundings are unchanged from 2008. The stored coordinate marks the bridge itself at 35.609748, 139.624608; it is not a reconstructed running mark or camera position. Use normal pedestrian routes and do not enter the roadway to reproduce the shot.
