Alchemy of Souls | Goseokjeong, Cheorwon — The Lonely Rock in the River

A granite pillar stands in the Hantan River as if someone had driven a monument through the basalt. Ten metres of older stone, left behind when lava buried the valley and the river cut it open again. The pavilion on the bank is called Goseokjeong, the Lonely Rock Pavilion, at 1825 Taebong-ro in Dongsong-eup. Records say Silla's King Jinpyeong lingered here. The present two-storey building is a 1971 reconstruction after the war burned the last wooden hall. Alchemy of Souls used the gorge as one of its wilder outdoor frames, a place that already looked like a world with a hidden history.

Cheorwon lists the site among its nine views. The Civilian Control Zone tours leave from the management office beside it. Upstream is Jiktang Falls. Downstream is Sundam. The rock in mid-river still holds the cave local stories give to Im Kkeokjeong. You do not need the drama to justify the stop. The series simply put a fantasy kingdom on top of a geology lesson that was already public, already mapped, and already older than any script.
