In spring 2016 Brian S. Tyler went to Stuttgart to run Celesio, the German medicines wholesaler McKesson had bought.
He arrived as president and chief operating officer of the European business.
In April 2017 he succeeded Marc Owen as chairman of the management board.
Celesio took the name McKesson Europe that autumn.
The new headquarters was Stockholmer Platz 1, 70173 Stuttgart, a six-storey block planned for occupancy in March or April 2017.
About 380 people were meant to move in.
The cube of the Stadtbibliothek stands next door on Mailänder Platz, a short walk from Hauptbahnhof.
German trade coverage placed Tyler in Stuttgart from 2016 and recorded the board change in 2017.
A later German register notice listed him as no longer Vorstandsvorsitzender after he went home to become McKesson's president and chief operating officer on 2 August 2018.
The European years were the last job before the top job.
They also put an American wholesaler executive in a German railway-quarter office instead of in San Francisco.
Stockholmer Platz is a public square.
The library cube is the landmark a visitor uses to find it.
The office building itself is ordinary glass.
The moment is the chair, not the architecture.
McKesson Europe still gives Stockholmer Platz 1 as its Stuttgart address.
