Biography|Cristiano Amon — Unicamp Named Him Honorary Doctor in This Hall

On 25 November 2019 Unicamp called Cristiano Amon back to Campinas, not as a student but as its 29th Doctor Honoris Causa.

The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, on the same Zeferino Vaz campus where he had taken electrical engineering.

Unicamp published the notice the next day. The University Council had approved the title on 24 September 2019.

The university said he was then the youngest person to receive the honour, and that names such as Oscar Niemeyer already stood on the same list.

Amon had become global president of Qualcomm Incorporated in January 2018.

The honorary doctorate recognized that path, not a new research thesis written in this medical-school hall.

The auditorium seats about three hundred and is the large teaching hall of FCM, reached from Rua Albert Sabin inside the campus health complex.

It is a public university room, not a private office.

He had entered FEEC in 1988 and graduated in 1992. The 2019 hour closed a loop that started a few hundred metres northwest of this building.

Two years later, on 30 June 2021, Qualcomm's board made him chief executive, succeeding Steve Mollenkopf.

The pin is the medical-school auditorium named in the university's own report of the day.
