Fraser joined Citigroup in 2004 as head of client strategy in the investment and corporate banking division.

The Sunday Times later placed that first Citi posting in London.

By then Citi's European home was already the pair of towers at 25 and 33 Canada Square, opened in 2001 on the Canary Wharf estate.

César Pelli designed the taller of the two.

The building is public infrastructure of a bank, not a private residence.

A visitor can stand on Canada Square and see the same glass Citi occupied when she arrived.

She had just left a McKinsey partnership.

The decade that followed took her through strategy during the financial crisis, the private bank, U.S. consumer and mortgages, and then Latin America.

The 2021 chief-executive title belongs to Greenwich Street in New York.
