Personal Taste|Bukchon Hanok Village — The Alleys That Keep the Secret

Gae-dong does not announce that two people are living a lie behind one of its walls.

The alleys of Bukchon Hanok Village carried Personal Taste whenever Park Gae-in and Jeon Jin-ho left Sanggojae. Stone gutters, low tile eaves, a slope that forces you to watch your step. The neighborhood sits between two palaces and behaves as if that is ordinary.

This is the part of the drama that still exists without a ticket. Walk Gyedong-gil and Bukchon-ro 11ga-gil in the early morning, before tour groups pack the corners. The houses are lived in. Laundry appears. A delivery scooter squeezes past. The camera made those details look like design. They are maintenance.

Jin-ho came here to steal a traditional plan for a museum competition. Gae-in came home because the furniture business was failing and the house was what she had. The alley does not sort those motives. It only funnels both of them toward the same gate.

Keep to the public lanes. Residents posted quiet-hour signs for a reason. The drama needed the village to look emptied-out and intimate. The village itself never agreed to that fiction.

When you turn back toward Anguk Station the roofs stack in three layers and a tower appears behind them. That is the shot the series used as punctuation. You do not need the plot to see why an architect would lie to stay another night.
