Pinocchio | Cheongsando Port — The Ferry That Delivered Hyangrido

The car ferry from Wando-eup takes about fifty minutes. When the hull kisses the quay at Docheong-ri, the first thing you smell is diesel and wet rope, not a set. In the opening episodes of Pinocchio, this island is Hyangrido, the childhood shore where Choi In-ha and the boy later called Choi Dal-po learned how a small place can hold a lie the size of a factory fire.

Stone walls climb away from the harbor. Fishing boats sit in water that stays green even in winter. The drama needed a hometown that looked sealed off from Seoul newsrooms. Cheongsando already was. Asia's first official slow city keeps its pace on purpose. Visitors still walk the same quay the camera used when the children left and when the adults came back looking for a story they could finally tell without a nose that gave them away.

Stand at the rail until the next boat leaves. The island does not perform. It just keeps the light the first episodes borrowed.
