People treat Strategy, the former MicroStrategy, as the glass campus at 1850 Towers Crescent Plaza that always held bitcoin on a Nasdaq-100 book.
The first book was a consulting contract and a Delaware room.
On 17 November 1989 Michael Saylor incorporated the firm with Sanju Bansal and Thomas Spahr.
DuPont supplied 250,000 dollars of start-up capital and office space in Wilmington.
Saylor and Bansal had shared an MIT systems-dynamics course.
The product mined internal data with nonlinear mathematics rather than a spreadsheet printout.
A 10 million dollar McDonald's contract in 1992 was the first large customer.
Revenue roughly doubled each year from 1990 through 1996.
In 1994 about fifty people left Delaware for Tysons Corner, Virginia.
The present address is still that Tysons plaza.
The bitcoin treasury policy came decades later and renamed the public face.
The first ledger was a chemical company's spare floor, not a coin wallet.
