Elon Musk was accepted into Stanford but left before attending

In this Blox lies Stanford University, where Elon Musk was accepted as a Ph.D. student but left before attending.
Below is a Manuscript Snippet of Yu-kai Chou's "10,000 Hours of Play":
"After completing his Internship Quests and fulfilling his coursework at UPenn (though the official conferral of his degree was delayed two years due to graduation technicalities), Musk relocated to California.
Here, he embarked on a Ph.D. program in Applied Physics and Materials Science at Stanford University. This Quest seemed to be the best route for Musk to augment his knowledge and proficiency in ultracapacitors—a vanguard technology within the realm of battery innovations.
However, upon relocating to California, the vibrant innovation and abundant promise of Silicon Valley proved irresistible.
Specifically, he found himself captivated by the burgeoning phenomenon known as “the Internet.” To Musk, the internet was akin to humanity's “nervous system.”"
Below is a snippet from Ashley Vance's biography of Elon Musk, clearing his record for the confusion on whether Elon Musk really was accepted to Stanford or not:
"As for his academic records, Musk produced a document for me dated June 22, 2009, that came from Judith Haccou, the director of graduate admissions in the office of the registrar at Stanford University. It read, “As per special request from my colleagues in the School of Engineering, I have searched Stanford’s admission data base and acknowledge that you applied and were admitted to the graduate program in Material Science Engineering in 1995. Since you did not enroll, Stanford is not able to issue you an official certification document.”"
