山田太郎ものがたり (2007) | Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue — Where Ayako Met Kazuo

Meiji Jingu Gaien’s Ginkgo Avenue (神宮外苑いちょう並木) is the real Tokyo location used in episode 1 of TBS’s 2007『山田太郎ものがたり』for the place where Ayako Yamada met Kazuo Yamada. The episode aired on July 6, 2007. The same avenue returns in episode 8 when Kazuo and Ayako are shown walking together, making it a recurring visual link to Taro’s unconventional parents rather than a one-scene backdrop.

The National Filming Location Guide identifies the ginkgo avenue specifically for both scenes. Today it remains one of central Tokyo’s best-known public promenades: the Japan National Tourism Organization describes the avenue between Aoyama and Meiji Jingu Gaien, with straightforward access from Aoyama-itchome, while Minato City tourism lists it as an approximately 300-meter avenue.

For a pilgrimage visit, the strongest screen connection is the avenue itself rather than any single tree or paving stone.
