Biography|Emily Buening — The Youth Seat at the UN General Assembly

People treat a German party official as someone who learned the world from Berlin committee rooms.

Buening's first world brief was a youth seat in this hall.

In October 2009 she was one of two German youth delegates to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Bucerius Law School's alumni profile records the selection process, the speech to the Assembly, and a handshake with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as the memory she kept from the trip.

The Heinrich Boell Foundation later listed the same posting beside a second youth brief at the UN Commission for Social Development.

INKOTA, announcing her as co-managing director in November 2025, independently repeated the General Assembly and Social Development credentials.

She was still in her mid-twenties, between the first state law exam and the Referendariat.

The German youth-delegate programme sends students to sit with the official delegation for a session, not to hold a UN post.

The pin is the General Assembly Building on the East River campus, First Avenue at 42nd Street, a public diplomatic site.

It is not a claim that she worked for the Secretariat.

A visitor cannot walk the floor she spoke from without credentials.
