People treat Texas Instruments as a Dallas chip house that always printed TXN after a finished Nasdaq book.
The first tape was New York.
Texas Instruments investor-relations FAQs record that TI stock was first traded on 1 October 1953 on the New York Stock Exchange and remained listed there through 31 December 2011.
The same page records that the listing moved to the Nasdaq Global Select Market effective 1 January 2012, with TXN trading as a Nasdaq security from 3 January 2012.
Company history published for TI's seventy-fifth anniversary records that Erik Jonsson bought the first hundred shares at 5 1/4 dollars in 1953 currency when the bell opened that October morning.
The name Texas Instruments Incorporated dates to 1951.
The firm itself traces to Geophysical Service, founded in 1930 as a reflection-seismograph contractor.
The present tape is TXN on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
The mechanism of the 1953 event is a first New York listing of an already-renamed electronics company, not a later venue change.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where TXN first printed.
