People treat Medtronic as a Minneapolis device house that always printed MDT after a Minnesota book.
The January 2015 issuer was Medtronic plc, a new Irish holding company formed to combine Medtronic, Inc. and Covidien plc.
A company release dated 26 January 2015 said Medtronic, Inc. and Covidien shares ceased trading on this exchange at that close.
The same notice valued the cash-and-stock deal at about 49.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2015 dollars, using Medtronic's close of 75.59 U.S. dollars that session.
Each Covidien ordinary share converted into 35.19 U.S. dollars in cash plus 0.956 of a Medtronic plc ordinary share.
Each Medtronic, Inc. common share converted into one Medtronic plc ordinary share.
Trading in the Irish book was scheduled to open 27 January 2015 under the same letters MDT.
The mechanism is an inversion listing: two New York books stopped and a new Irish parent reused the old device ticker.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that reprinted MDT.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
