People treat Hormel as an Austin packing shop that always printed HRL after a finished factory book.
The 1990 issuer was Geo. A. Hormel and Company, a Delaware corporation founded in Austin, Minnesota, in 1891.
The company's own history records that it became a public company in 1928.
In 1990 that already-public book began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the letters HRL.
The same year the firm announced its seventh two-for-one split since the 1928 public inauguration.
On 31 January 1995 the 10-K name became Hormel Foods Corporation.
The letters on the tape stayed HRL.
The mechanism is a Big Board listing of an existing public book, not a cash IPO that morning.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on that 1990 tape.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
