People treat Kinder Morgan as a Houston pipeline house that always printed KMI after a finished New York book.
The 2011 issuer was Kinder Morgan, Inc., the corporate successor to a pipeline partnership Richard Kinder and William Morgan formed in February 1997 by buying the general partner of Enron Liquids Pipeline.
A later management-led group took the corporate parent private in 2007.
On 10 February 2011 the company priced an offering of 95.5 million shares at 30.00 U.S. dollars a share in 2011 dollars, an upsized sale that raised about 2.86 billion U.S. dollars.
Reuters and Bloomberg recorded that the company itself sold no shares; the stock came from selling stockholders in the 2007 buyout group.
Trading on the New York Stock Exchange under KMI began on 11 February 2011.
Bloomberg recorded a first-day close of 31.05 U.S. dollars.
The letters KMI still open on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a 2011 relisting of a pipeline parent after a leveraged take-private, not the first public book of the 1997 partnership.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on the morning KMI opened.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
