People treat IQVIA as a Durham data-and-trials house that always printed IQV after a finished New York book.
The May 2013 issuer was Quintiles Transnational Holdings Inc., a North Carolina contract-research company backed by TPG and Bain.
An SEC Form 8-K dated the completed offering to 14 May 2013 at $40.00 a share in 2013 dollars.
Quintiles sold 13,125,000 primary shares. Selling shareholders sold 14,111,841 shares, including the underwriters' option.
Renaissance Capital dated first trade to 9 May 2013 on the New York Stock Exchange under the letter Q and put the whole book at about $947 million in 2013 dollars.
On 3 October 2016 Quintiles completed a stock merger with IMS Health Holdings. The surviving corporation kept the Q tape and the name QuintilesIMS.
A company release dated 6 November 2017 said the listed name would become IQVIA and that the New York tape would print IQV beginning 15 November 2017.
The letters IQV still open on this exchange.
The mechanism is a contract-research IPO that later absorbed a data vendor, then retired the single-letter ticker without leaving the Big Board.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange on the morning Q opened.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
