People treat J.B. Hunt as a Lowell freight house that always printed JBHT after a finished Nasdaq book.
The 1983 issuer was J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., an Arkansas trucking company founded in 1961.
A 2002 company prospectus told investors the firm had grown in revenue and net income since its initial public offering in 1983.
Market-data listings commonly start a continuous JBHT series in November 1983 on Nasdaq.
The letters stayed JBHT as the book moved onto the Nasdaq National Market and later the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
A company Form 8-A dated 5 March 2026 registered the same common stock for a dual listing on Nasdaq Texas under the same ticker, with trading there expected on 6 March 2026.
The primary tape remained the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
The letters JBHT still open on that market.
The mechanism is a 1983 over-the-counter trucking IPO that kept one ticker across four decades of Nasdaq tier changes and a later dual listing.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the present street marker for the tape that prints JBHT.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
