Finance History|11 Wall Street — A 1968 Pest-Control Book That Still Prints ROL

People treat Rollins as an Atlanta pest-control house that always printed ROL after a finished New York book.
The 1968 issuer was Rollins, Inc., the Delaware company that had taken that name in 1965 after starting as Rollins Broadcasting.
A company release dated 8 September 2008, written for a closing-bell ceremony two days later, dated the New York listing to 1968 and put that year's revenues at 106 million dollars in 1968 currency.
The same release said two later New York companies were cut out of the Rollins book after that listing.
A later 8-K exhibit dated 8 August 2018, written for the fiftieth-anniversary closing bell, repeated the 1968 start and recorded that two directors present at the original listing, R. Randall Rollins and Henry B. Tippie, would ring the bell again.
That 2018 notice also recorded the 1964 purchase of Orkin for 62.4 million dollars in 1964 currency, the acquisition that turned a broadcasting company into a pest-control issuer.
The present tape is ROL on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a long NYSE listing that outlived the broadcasting business. The letters stayed on the New York tape while the cash-flow engine became Orkin and the later service brands.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that now prints ROL.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
