People treat Regions as a Birmingham regional bank that always printed RF after a finished New York book.
The May 2002 issuer was Regions Financial Corporation, already public on Nasdaq under the letters RGBK after a 1971 holding-company combination of three Alabama banks.
Arkansas Business, on 10 April 2002, recorded the company's announcement: common stock would list on the New York Stock Exchange under the letters RF beginning 3 May 2002, and the Nasdaq book called RGBK would close.
The same report put assets at 45.4 billion dollars in 2002 currency across more than 670 banking offices in nine Southern and border states.
The present tape is RF on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is an exchange transfer, not a first sale. A Southern bank that had grown by buying the name Regions from an Arkansas seller moved its common book onto the same tape as its already-listed trust-preferred shares.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that now prints RF.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
