People treat NextEra Energy as a Juno Beach utility house that always printed NEE after a finished New York book.
The June 2010 issuer was NextEra Energy, Inc., the Florida holding company that had traded as FPL Group, Inc. since a 1984 restructuring of Florida Power and Light.
A company release dated 23 June 2010 records that the New York Stock Exchange ticker for the common changed from FPL to NEE at the start of that session.
The same release notes that shareholders had approved the name change from FPL Group, Inc. to NextEra Energy, Inc. on 21 May 2010.
An SEC Form 8-K filed after that meeting records the articles of amendment and the plan to file a supplemental listing application so the tape would change from FPL to NEE on or about 23 June 2010.
The present tape is still NEE on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a name-and-ticker change on an already listed holding-company book, not a cash initial public offering.
The pin is the public Broad Street facade of the 1903 New York Stock Exchange building, the street marker for the tape that stopped printing FPL and opened NEE.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
