People treat Teradyne as a North Reading test house that always printed TER after a finished Nasdaq book.
The present venue is a transfer.
A company Form 8-K dated 14 November 2018 records that Teradyne would withdraw its principal listing from the New York Stock Exchange and move it to the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
The same filing records that New York trading would end at the close on 26 November 2018 and that Nasdaq trading would begin at the open on 27 November 2018 under the same letters TER.
A companion press release that day kept the ticker unchanged.
Company histories record that Teradyne sold stock to the public in 1970, after 1969 sales had passed 15 million dollars in 1969 currency.
Independent listing tables date that first book to October 1970 on the New York tape.
No day-of-week opening print for that 1970 sale is used here, because the surviving tables do not agree on a single session.
The present tape is TER on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
The mechanism is a venue change of an already-listed automatic-test book, not a cash initial public offering.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the street marker used for the TER tape after the move.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
