People treat Sysco as a Houston food-service house that always printed SYY after a finished New York book.
The first public book was earlier and on another tape.
Sysco's own anniversary release and later prospectus language record that the company became public in March 1970.
A New York Times report dated 12 February 1981 records that the stock, previously traded on the American Stock Exchange, moved to the New York Stock Exchange on 20 January.
The present tape is still SYY on the New York Stock Exchange.
The mechanism is a transfer of an already-public food-distribution book onto the listed New York tape, not a floor-priced initial public offering at 11 Wall Street in 1970.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where SYY opened on the New York tape.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
