People treat Textron as a Providence aircraft house that always printed TXT after a finished New York book.
The first tape was a renamed textile company.
Textron's own company history records that the firm listed on the New York Stock Exchange on 22 December 1947.
The same page records that Royal Little founded Special Yarns Corporation in Boston in 1923, with first-year sales of 75,000 dollars in 1923 currency.
During the Second World War the business operated as Atlantic Rayon and made parachute cloth and other military textiles.
After those contracts shrank, Little chose the name Textron, combining Tex from textiles with tron from the synthetic Lustron, and took that name to the New York tape.
The present book is TXT on the New York Stock Exchange.
Headquarters sit at 40 Westminster Street in Providence. The listing event itself printed in New York.
The mechanism of 22 December 1947 is a first New York listing of an already-renamed textile manufacturer, years before the later aircraft and helicopter acquisitions.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where TXT first printed.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
