People treat Tesla as a Palo Alto car book that always printed TSLA after a finished Nasdaq offering.
The first cash offering is dated.
A Tesla investor-relations release dated 28 June 2010 records an initial public offering of 13,300,000 common shares at 17.00 dollars each in 2010 currency.
Of those shares, 11,880,600 were offered by the company and 1,419,400 by selling stockholders.
The same release records that the shares would begin trading on 29 June 2010 on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under TSLA.
Reuters and Bloomberg both record the upsized sale against an earlier 14-to-16-dollar range and a planned 11.1 million share count.
The New York Times dated 30 June 2010 records that TSLA closed the first session at 23.89 dollars, up 6.89 dollars from the offering price.
Period coverage treated the offering as the first initial public offering by an American automaker since Ford in 1956.
The present tape is still TSLA on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
The mechanism is a priced cash initial public offering on the Nasdaq book, not a New York floor listing.
The pin is the public Times Square facade of Nasdaq MarketSite, the street marker used for the TSLA tape.
Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
