People treat the 2015 Hewlett-Packard divorce as Meg Whitman's file.
The Separation Management Office that cut the company in two was run by Lores.
On 1 November 2015 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time, Hewlett-Packard Company finished the legal split.
The personal-systems and printing businesses stayed inside the renamed HP Inc., ticker HPQ.
The enterprise technology, software, services and financing businesses left as Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ticker HPE.
The SEC 8-K filed after the event records the distribution: one HPE share for each HP share held at the close on 21 October 2015, about 1.805 billion HPE shares in all.
Regular-way trading in both names began on the New York Stock Exchange on 2 November 2015.
HP's later official biography of Lores names him as the executive who led that Separation Management Office.
The work sat at the company's long public headquarters at 1501 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto, California 94304.
The campus is a documented corporate address, not a private house.
Dion Weisler took the HP Inc. chief's chair the same week.
Lores stayed inside HP Inc. and later ran Imaging, Printing and Solutions.
The split is the hinge. Without that office on Page Mill Road, the later appointment has no company left to appoint him to.
