Biography | Justin Hotard — The Espoo Headquarters Where Nokia Named Him Chief Executive

People treat a CEO appointment as a press release that could have been written anywhere.

Nokia dated this one to a street address in Espoo.

On 10 February 2025 the company told the market, from Espoo, that Pekka Lundmark would step down as president and chief executive on 31 March.

The board named Justin Hotard, then running Intel's Data Center and AI Group, as his successor.

He would start on 1 April 2025 and be based at headquarters.

The visiting address Nokia publishes for that headquarters is Karakaari 7, 02610 Espoo.

The same campus is often described by the older Karaportti gate names.

Hotard was born in 1974.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Before Intel he spent 2015 to 2024 at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ending as executive vice president for high-performance computing, AI, and Hewlett Packard Labs.

Earlier posts ran through NCR, Symbol Technologies, and Motorola, where he began as an engineer on U.S. carrier networks.

Reuters photographed Hotard in Espoo on the announcement day with Lundmark and board chair Sari Baldauf.

The 6-K Nokia filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission the next day repeats the Espoo dateline, the 1 April start, and the instruction that he would work from this headquarters.

The building on the cover photograph is the campus as it stood in 2011, when the published street plate still read Karaportti 3.

The company has since listed Karakaari 7 as the head-office visiting address on the same plot of Keilaniemi.
