Biography | Ola Källenius — The Day Daimler Took the Mercedes Name

On 1 February 2022 Daimler AG became Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The ticker on the Frankfurt exchange changed from DAI to MBG.

Shareholders had already voted the change on 1 October 2021, with 99.89 percent of votes cast, in the same meeting that approved the spin-off of Daimler Truck.

Daimler Truck Holding AG had listed in Frankfurt on 10 December 2021.

What remained was a car-and-van company. The holding name finally matched the star on the bonnet.

The commercial-register seat stayed in Stuttgart. The public building that carries the brand for visitors is this museum at Mercedesstraße 100, opposite the Untertürkheim plant.

Källenius had taken the chair in Berlin in May 2019. The 2022 renaming followed the 2021 decision to separate the truck business; it should be distinguished from the earlier PROJECT FUTURE restructuring.
