Biography | Satya Nadella — The Indo-Saracenic School on Sardar Patel Road That Called Him an Eagle

People treat Microsoft's chief executive as a product of Redmond.

He left this campus as a member of the 1984 batch, an Eagle in the school's own language.

Satya Narayana Nadella was born on 19 August 1967 in Hyderabad, then in Andhra Pradesh and now in Telangana.

His father, Bukkapuram Nadella Yugandhar, was an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1962 batch.

His mother, Prabhavati, taught Sanskrit.

The family house is still a private address, so this pin stays on the school.

The Hyderabad Public School stands at 1-11-87 and 88, Sardar Patel Road, Begumpet.

The Seventh Nizam opened it in 1923 as Jagirdars College.

After the zamindari system ended it took the present name in 1951.

The white Indo-Saracenic main block still faces the cricket ground on a campus of more than a hundred acres.

Classmates speaking in February 2014, when the Microsoft announcement broke, described a quiet, useful boy rather than a school celebrity.

G. Jayanand, who taught him biology and served as his house-master, later called the 1984 student sincere at lessons and at games.

The school itself has a longer corporate roll than most Indian campuses: Adobe's Shantanu Narayen and World Bank Group's Ajay Banga also walked these corridors.

Nadella and his future wife, Anupama, were both students here.

In November 2013, months before the board vote in Redmond, he came back for the school's ninetieth year.

The next stop was not a Silicon Valley undergraduate hall.

It was an electrical-engineering degree at the Manipal Institute of Technology, then affiliated to Mangalore University.
