My Lovely Sam Soon|Hallasan Seongpanak — Rain on the Longest Trail

The scene everyone remembers was not planned for rain. MBC needed the cut for the next week. The crew drove to Jeju in the monsoon, put Kim Sun-a and Hyun Bin on the Seongpanak trail in street clothes, and shot while water ran off the lenses. Sam-soon is climbing because she has decided to become Kim Hee-jin. Jin-heon is already higher up, waiting, and will not let her change the name.

Seongpanak is the eastern route to Baengnokdam. Official Jeju figures put the trail at 9.6 kilometres one way, about four and a half hours from the management office at 750 metres. It is the longest way up Hallasan and the gentlest until the last push. Reservations are required now. The parking lot at 33.3849, 126.6200 fills before breakfast.

You will not find a marker that says episode twelve. You will find a forest path, two shelters, and weather that still turns in ten minutes. The drama used the mountain the way Jeju uses it — as the place you go when the city argument is unfinished. Walk until the radio chatter dies. That is the shot they kept.
