Princess Hours|Gyeonghuigung Palace — The Western Palace That Played Geunjeongjeon

VisitKorea listed Gyeonghuigung as the stand-in for the main hall. The drama needed a throne courtyard that would read as Geunjeongjeon without parking the cameras in the middle of Gyeongbokgung's tourist crush.

Gyeonghuigung sits west of the old city, on Saemunan-ro, one of Joseon's Five Grand Palaces and the one Seoul rebuilt last. Sungjeongjeon, the restored audience hall, faces a stone yard that is quieter than Gwanghwamun. Ten kings used this compound as a secondary court. The Japanese colonial years stripped most of it. What you walk now is the 1990s reconstruction, still a public palace with no admission fee.

Princess Hours needed that emptiness. A modern monarchy in the story still required ceremony: arrivals, bows, the long walk across flagstones toward a raised hall. Gyeonghuigung gives you the geometry without the crowd that would have broken the shot.

Come on a weekday morning. The hall sits against office towers. That collision is the whole premise of the series. A king still holds court. The city has already grown past the wall.
