華麗なる一族 (2007) | Nihondaira Hotel — The Manpyou Family Garden

Nihondaira Hotel (日本平ホテル), on the ridge above Shimizu, supplied the broad garden landscape used for the Manpyou family estate in TBS’s 2007『華麗なる一族』. The National Filming Location Guide identifies the hotel specifically as the family’s “garden with a good view,” while warning that the Manpyou residence itself was composited into the image and that the stone bridge was a temporary filming set.

That distinction matters for a pilgrimage visit: this is the real landscape anchor, not a surviving version of the fictional mansion. The series aired from January to March 2007, and the garden imagery helped establish the scale, privilege and emotional distance surrounding the Manpyou household.

Today’s Nihondaira Hotel stands at 1500-2 Mabase, Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka. The hotel’s own history says the property was completely rebuilt and reopened in September 2012, so visitors should not expect the present hotel architecture—or every detail of the landscaping—to reproduce what appeared on screen in 2007.
