Airbus's leadership transition on 10 April 2019 passed through a shareholder meeting in Amsterdam.

The annual general meeting was scheduled at the Hotel Okura, 333 Ferdinand Bolstraat, according to the company's published invitation.

That documented venue, rather than the operational headquarters near Toulouse, anchors this memory.

Shareholders approved Guillaume Faury's appointment as an executive member of the Airbus board for a three-year term.

The company then announced that its board, meeting immediately after the annual general meeting, had formally appointed him chief executive.

Those were connected but distinct decisions.

The succession had been prepared months earlier.

On 8 October 2018, the board had selected Faury to succeed Tom Enders, with the change to take place after the 2019 annual general meeting.

The geographical distinction matters because a company's legal, shareholder and operational activities need not occur in one city.

A headquarters address cannot establish where an appointment vote happened, and it cannot substantiate an imagined first morning at a desk.
