Biography | Guillaume Faury — The Palaiseau Qualification Before a Career in Flight Testing
kevin
Guillaume Faury's engineering education crossed two French campuses before it reached a helicopter test programme.
The first qualification came from the École polytechnique in 1990, according to Airbus's biographical record.
The school's Palaiseau campus anchors that stage of his life, south of Paris on the Saclay plateau.
It is easy to associate the institution with its former Paris premises, but its own history dates the move to Palaiseau to 1976.
That relocation preceded Faury's studies by more than a decade.
The alumni record identifies his cohort as X1987; the class year and the 1990 graduation refer to different points in his education.
The campus is therefore a meaningful geographical connection to his training, without requiring an invented graduation scene or a claim about a particular lecture room.
An engineering diploma can disappear into a short line beneath later corporate titles.
Here it marks the first stage of a technical preparation that continued at SUPAERO in Toulouse, whose alumni association identifies Faury with its 1992 promotion.
The two qualifications should not be collapsed into a single graduation or moved to the site of his later employer.
Together they explain the educational sequence before his professional work on aircraft.
Airbus records that he began his career in 1992 as a flight-test engineer on the Tiger helicopter for the Direction générale de l'armement.
His route into aerospace leadership consequently began with engineering education and aircraft testing, long before the chief executive's role.
The memory's date gives the documented graduation year; the available sources do not establish a particular ceremony day.
Its pin identifies the educational institution at Palaiseau, rather than a present-day personal office.
For visitors, this remains a working campus with its own access arrangements.
The historical connection lies in the school where he studied, not in access to private rooms or an expectation of finding him there.
