The public goodbye was a conference hall.

Inamori died at 08:25 on 24 August 2022, at home in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, of old age.

That house is private and is not this pin.

A family funeral was held first.

On 28 November 2022, Kyocera, KDDI, Japan Airlines, and the Inamori Foundation opened a farewell at the Event Hall of the Kyoto International Conference Center, 422 Iwakura Osagicho, Sakyo-ku.

About 3,100 people came through that afternoon.

The format was flowers, not a eulogy program.

The same complex is where the Kyoto Prize, which he endowed in 1984 and first presented in November 1985, is given each year.

The prize and the farewell are different moments in one public building.

A second farewell followed on 6 December 2022 at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.
