Biography | 稲盛和夫 Kazuo Inamori — The Korimoto Labs Where Applied Chemistry Took Hold

People remember Inamori as a manager who happened to know ceramics.

The chemistry came first, and it was learned on this campus.

In March 1955 he took a Bachelor of Engineering in applied chemistry from Kagoshima University and left Korimoto for a Kyoto insulator works.

The Faculty of Engineering still occupies the Korimoto campus at 1-21-24 Korimoto.

This pin is the public campus, not a private room.

Jobs were scarce that year.

A professor's introduction sent him to Shofu Industrial, an insulator maker, where he worked on specialty ceramics and later synthesized forsterite as a high-frequency insulator.

The university later received a building from the same graduate.

In October 1994 the Inamori Auditorium, designed by Tadao Ando and funded by Inamori to mark the faculty's fiftieth year, opened just inside the engineering gate.

Its main hall is named for his parents, Kimi and Kesaichi.

The 2008 photograph attached here shows the separate Inamori Academy building on the same campus, not Ando's auditorium.

A visitor who wants the donated hall should ask for 稲盛会館, to the left of the engineering entrance.

The degree is the formation.

The later gift is how the campus chose to remember the student.
