Biography|Akbar Al Baker — The Hill Campus at Panchgani Where He Boarded

The assumption is that Gulf airline chiefs are formed in Doha or London.
Akbar Al Baker spent the school years that public biographies bother to name on a ridge in the Western Ghats.
St. Peter's School, Panchgani, sits at about 1,300 metres in Satara district, Maharashtra, on a campus the school itself now puts at some fifty-six acres.
It opened in 1904 as a boarding house first called the European Boys' School, after a short stay in rooms at neighbouring Kimmins.
The motto on the gate is still Ut Prosim, that I may serve.
Doha News, the airline's own archived chief-executive page, and later board biographies all record that Al Baker boarded here as a boy before moving down to Mumbai for college.
They do not publish the entry or leaving years.
The pin is the campus itself, not a dormitory door.
Panchgani was already a hill station for families who wanted cooler air and an English-medium boarding education when a Qatari child arrived.
The school passed from the Commonwealth and Continental Church Society to the Bombay Diocesan Society in 1961.
From here the next documented classroom is Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics on B Road, Churchgate, the government college founded in 1913 that still occupies that Churchgate plot.
He took a degree in economics and commerce there, then went home.
The Times later recorded the first Doha job as assistant accountant at the Civil Aviation Authority.
The hill is the formation that sits before that ledger.
A private pilot licence would come later.
The campus photograph shows the Panchgani buildings as they stand, not a 1970s classroom.
Visitors should treat it as a working school, not a museum of one pupil.
