Biography | Olivier Chansou — The 27 November Decree That Sent an Alumnus Back as Director

People treat an ENAC director as someone the state drops onto the school from a ministry corridor.

On 27 November 2017 a decree of the President of the Republic named Olivier Chansou director of the École nationale de l'aviation civile.

The instrument listed him as ingénieur général des ponts, des eaux et des forêts.

It replaced Marc Houalla, director since November 2008 and called to other functions.

The Journal officiel printed the text on 30 November 2017 under NOR TRAA1728165D.

Chansou was 52.

The school's own notice, repeated by Ouest-France in January 2018, called him the eighth director of ENAC.

The appointment closed a loop.

The 1988 graduate came back to the Rangueil campus as its head.

He had just finished five years running four DSNA Sud-Ouest services in Bordeaux — CESNAC, SIA, SNA/SO and CRNA/SO — about 1,100 agents.

The decree did not invent a new school.

It put an alumnus over the buildings already standing at 7 avenue Édouard-Belin.

A later decree of 13 July 2022 named him chevalier of the Légion d'honneur, citing 32 years of service and this directorship.

That honor is on the record.
