Biography | Olivier Chansou — The Rangueil Campus That Graduated Him an ENAC Engineer

People treat the director's office at the École nationale de l'aviation civile as a post that arrives from outside the school.

Chansou came the other way.

He entered ENAC as an ingénieur student in the IÉNAC L85 intake and finished with the class of 1988.

The two labels look like a contradiction until you separate start year from diploma year.

The campus that trained him already stood at 7 avenue Édouard-Belin, in Toulouse's Rangueil scientific complex.

ENAC had left Orly for that site in 1968.

A plaque on the grounds still records the 1969 inauguration.

He later added a DEA in fundamental computer science and parallelism, then the separate Ingénieur de l'Aviation Civile qualification, class of 1993.

The 1988 paper is the school.

The 1993 title is the civil-aviation corps.

Both sit on this campus's teaching, not on a Paris corridor.

Born in 1965, he was in his early twenties when the 1988 class finished.

The public face of the site is the building named for Max Hymans, the official who created ENAC in 1949.

A visitor at the Belin gate is standing where the future director first learned the trade he would later run.
