J-Drama Pilgrimage | Nのために N no Tameni (2014) — 高松港玉藻防波堤 / Nozomi and Naruse Look Toward the Horizon

Drama: TBS『Nのために』 / N no Tameni / For N (2014).

Episode 2, broadcast 2014-10-24: the Nationwide Filming Location Guide identifies 高松港玉藻防波堤 (Takamatsu Port Tamamo Breakwater) as the place where 杉下希美 / Nozomi Sugishita and 成瀬慎司 / Shinji Naruse look toward the horizon during their trip off the island. TBS’s Episode 2 story follows the pair as they think seriously about further education and a future beyond their constrained circumstances.

Why it matters: “seeing the horizon” becomes one of the drama’s recurring expressions of Nozomi’s desire for a larger life. The real breakwater therefore links the Setouchi landscape to the story’s ambitions rather than serving as generic seaside scenery.

Today: the Shikoku tourism authority describes the Tamamo Breakwater promenade as about 540 metres long, with ferries passing nearby. At its tip stands 高松港玉藻防波堤灯台, nicknamed せとしるべ, the glass red lighthouse that remains an active aid to navigation. This is an operating harbor environment: use the public promenade, heed closures or maritime safety instructions, and do not step into restricted port areas.

Coordinate scope: pin at the public lighthouse/tip of the Tamamo Breakwater. It is a stable pilgrimage anchor for the breakwater but is not claimed as the exact point where the actors stood or where the camera was placed in 2014.
