Biography | Bruno Oberle — The Titular Chair EPFL Posted the Day He Left the Federal Office

Federal environment directors usually retire into boards or silence.

On 25 September 2015 the Federal Council's press service said Oberle had that day been named titular professor of green economy at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne.

He would start in early 2016.

He left BAFU at the end of 2015.

The same communiqué placed him in EPFL's Institute of Technology and Public Policy.

He would also pick up teaching again, work he had done at ETH Zurich before the federal years.

The Rolex Learning Center on Place Maurice-Cosandey is the public building on that campus.

SANAA's library opened in 2010.

It is not his office.

It is the public building a visitor can walk to without being sent down a staff corridor.

From Lausanne he chaired the Global Tailings Review launched in 2019 and was a lead author of the International Resource Panel's Global Resources Outlook 2019.

Those reports were written after the BAFU decade and before the IUCN appointment.

The campus is in Ecublens, west of the city.
